In today's conditions, one of the economic activities that come to the fore for rural areas is tourism and agrotourism as a sub-branch of tourism. The proliferation of agrotourism initiatives in rural areas is valuable for both local people and national economies. Based on this idea, in this research, it is aimed to evaluate the views of the local people towards tourism and their intentions to initiative in this direction in Çayeli, which is a suitable place for agrotourism. With the data obtained by the interview technique, it was concluded that although the knowledge of the participants was limited, their interest in the tourism activities taking place in their surroundings was high. However, another result is that this interest is not enough to support the entrepreneurship intention. Although the most important obstacles to the entrepreneurship of the participants were the lack of knowledge and capital, there are expectations of government support in both issues. Ultimately, suggestions for public institutions were developed to meet the expectations of the participants.
