Abstract

In Turkey, there is growing interest for winter tourism activities in recent years. Turkey's Tourism Strategy 2023, specified that prepared to support programs for the development of winter tourism. It also emphasizes the development of new areas of activity for winter tourism and the regulation of national and international competitions. Skiing is the most popular activity in terms of winter tourism in Turkey. In addition to skiing, it is important to develop other winter sports such as ice climbing, frozen waterfall climbing and winter hiking and to evaluate it from a recreational point of view. Therefore, it is important to develop activities such as frozen waterfall climbing, under ice diving and winter trekking along with skiing activities in the diversification of winter tourism. It is thought that the planning of these activities could contribute to the potential of winter tourism in Sivas. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate frozen waterfall climbing activity in winter tourism in Sivas province where winter season is very hard and winter tourism opportunities (such as theYıldızdağı Winter Sports Tourism Center) are available. In this study, it is aimed to introduce the recreational activity of frozen waterfall climb and to gain it to Sivas tourism.
