Abstract

In the labor-intensive tourism sector, the effect of cultural intelligence on vocation fit has been wondered for the sector to reach a qualified workforce on the one hand and for individuals, who acquire tourism as a profession, to achieve their goals on the other hand. In this context, it was investigated within the scope of the study whether the cultural intelligence levels of individuals affect their vocation fit, and the level of the effect in question, if it affects. In the literature review, we couldn’t find any study carried out directly in this field, so, we aimed to fill this gap in the literature with our study. The population of the research composed of the students who enrolled in the Marmaris Tourism Vocational School of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University in the 2019-2020 Spring Semester. Within the field study, data were collected from 300 students who participated in the study, and the analysis of these data was made using the SPSS 22.0 program. The regression analysis to determine the cause and effect relation between cultural intelligence and vocation fit was found to be significant (F=100,601; p=0,000<0.05). It was concluded that the total change in the level of vocation fit was explained by cultural intelligence by 25%, and that cultural intelligence increases the level of vocation fit. According to the findings obtained, research hypotheses were accepted.
