THE APPROACH OF PRINTED MEDIA TO TOURISM IN TURKEY: TOO MANY PROBLEMS, NO INTEREST

In globalizing world, the usage of mass comminucational devices and the number of users are increasing continuously. Media is one of the most significant communicational goods in todays world and its influence over people is inclining day by day. Media gives opportunity for people to achieve information rapidly and also effective in spatial preferences. Tourism includes travels of people for entertainment, resting, exploring new places, getting to know different cultures and for some other reasons. In this point of view there is a strong relation between tourism and media. Media is influential in spatial preferences of people for visiting and relaxing before their tourism choices and guiding many people in their touristic activities. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the approach of the pieces of news about tourism in media. For this aim, five different newspaper in 2013-2014 period were examined. For the analysis of selected pieces of news “News Classification Form” was used. The data of the pieces of news related to tourism as the title, dimension, type, publication page were put in the form and content analysis of this data were carried out. According to the findings of the research, it concluded that Turkey has insufficiently addressed the news media on tourism.
