Digital Nomads Perception of Turkey

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the comments of digital nomads about Turkey on the Nomad List website, and to evaluate the perceptions of digital nomads towards Turkey. While examining the comments on the Nomad List, the phenomenological research design, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used. In order to reach the data, all the rated destinations of Turkey were reached by typing the keyword "Turkey" in the website. A total of 35 comments were obtained for the destinations of Istanbul, Antalya, Alanya, Adana, Izmir, Ankara, Gaziantep, Bodrum, Konya and Bursa, and qualitative data were analyzed with content analysis. In the analysis process, the data were visualized by using the MAXQDA software. When the data is examined, each destination is divided into sub-themes under the main theme of "destinations". The main theme of “Criteria” was analyzed by dividing into 11 sub-themes. As a result of the analysis, it has been determined that there are mostly positive comments about Istanbul and Izmir, but there are no comments about Konya and Adana, but the scores given by the digital nomads to these destinations are at a good level. Turkey has a positive perception of digital nomads, especially thanks to its food-beverage-entertainment opportunities and historical, cultural and natural attractions. However, digital nomads generally evaluate Turkey negatively in terms of security conditions, traffic-transportation and internet speed.
