Abstract

The official image of the destinations and the online image formed by the photos shared by tourists online may be different. The destination image, created by online photos taken and shared by tourists, can either accept or maintain the official image of the destination. For this reason, destination managers and marketers need to take into account the online image that tourists create with the photos they share. The aim of the study is to compare the differences between the images created by the users on the Turkey Pinterest website and the photographs shared on the Ministry of Culture and Tourism website. According to the findings, the most shared photographs on Pinterest are Nature and Geographic Landscape pictures, while on the Ministry's website this is the theme of Religion, Tradition and Cultural Heritage..
