Abstract

After learning has gained an important place in the life of individuals throughout life, learning and sustainability principles have begun to be adopted in different cities around the world. One of the most important projects regarding learning cities is the UNESCO Learning Cities Global Network. The aim of the study is to define the learning cities approach and to draw attention to the characteristics and importance of learning cities. In the study, detailed information about lifelong learning, learning cities, and features of learning cities is given. In addition, two cities that are members of the Global Network of Learning Cities are examined as examples.
