Abstract

In the current research, the relationships between the level of students’ personal social capital and the level of nature-based and user-oriented recreational activity participation were examined. For the research sample 300 students who are registered at Gazi University Faculty of Tourism, Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Faculty of Statistical and Administrative Sciences were determined and questionnarrie method was used for the data collection. At the result of the study, the differantiation in participating user-oriented activities according to instrumental support dimension of social capital was established. Furthermore, participating in user-oriented activities shows difference according to the students’ gender and the educational class status. Informational support, instrumental support and collective efficacy level of social capital dimensions also show differences according to the gender and the educational class status. At the same time, high and middle level of relationships were detected between the social capital dimensions. According to the results of the study, fundamental managerial suggestions presented about public recreative area policies and feasible arrangement.
